Abstract
I'd like to thank the authors of closeread, which is a fantastic library for scrollytelling. In a professional context, we were looking for a tool to do this and this marvel has arrived. We'll never know how to thank you.
My dataviz aims to explain the interest of fractal geometry for geographers. In a fractal approach, the relevant information is not at a given scale but in the way in which the scales are linked together. Fractal geography transforms the Modifiable Areal Unit Problem into a tool for describing the organisation of human organisations.
Full Description
My page is designed to be consulted on a mobile phone, which is the main tool for accessing the Internet. However, I have tried to make it responsive so that it can be read on a desktop computer. So it' s the reason why I've decided to only offer overlay scrolling.
I did the data processing in Python because I'm more proficient in this language. My skills in observablehq are limited, but I was able to create a dynamic map that changes as you scroll.
My only regret is that my map of France jumps on mobile phones.
