Hi,
A few days ago I noticed the badges (e.g., for CRAN, downloads etc) stopped showing up on our html website (http://r-text.org/) made using pkgdown
-- but is still showing up fine on Github page (GitHub - OscarKjell/text: Using Transformers from HuggingFace in R).
Not sure where to start looking for an error -- any help is much appreciated.

This seems to be a bug in pkgdown 2.0.4. A workaround is to use the 2.0.3 version. Please open an issue at Issues · r-lib/pkgdown · GitHub and refer to Revamp homepage tweaking by hadley · Pull Request #2114 · r-lib/pkgdown · GitHub and also to your repository that reproduces it.

It's not a bug, it's a feature not documented yet: badges are automatically removed from the production website (since the PR you mention). Update build_home() docs · Issue #2198 · r-lib/pkgdown · GitHub

Well, the OP has
development:
mode: release
and even with a version number like 1.0.0, there are no badges on the home page. How can you put them on the homepage?

I think you can't at the moment which might be why improving the docs on this topic will be a good idea
