It's currently unclear if my institution can pay for monthly subscriptions, or software with credits/recurring usage limits. However, we can pay for annual subscriptions to software. Perhaps other institutions have similar limitations.
Anyway, I really want to purchase the PositAI subscription, so it would be great if there were additional pricing options, including an annual subscription (maybe with some usage limit that locks you out until your tokens renew at the end of the week, rather than auto-charging after you run out), or a one time purchase of a set number of tokens

I assume you never heard from anyone about this? I would also like an annual sub option as my university will not let me "keep a card on file" so to speak for monthly payments.
Hi both - you're not alone. We've heard the same thing from a number of universities and other institutions that can't do monthly billing or keep a card on file. It's a real barrier for people who want to use the service.
The challenging part on our side is that AI use costs us money every time someone makes a request, and that amount goes up and down with how much people use it. A flat annual price doesn't line up with that unless an institution is open to a higher level of spending, which most aren't.
We're talking through options now. What you both described - pay once a year, get a set amount of usage, and stop when it runs out instead of getting charged again - is one of them. But we've learned from other services that it leads to real pain at the wrong times, like finals week.
I'll post back here if we establish something more definite. If you’re open to jumping on a call to discuss your institution’s specifics, I’d welcome the conversation.
