I work exclusively with the code editor in a separate window, so each time I double click on a .R file either in the rstudio interface or in the windows file explorer the file opens in the main window and I'm forced to click on "Show in new window". If I have several files opened in the main window and I want to detach all of them I have to click on each one of them and bring them in the same window manually.
The only way to have the files open directly in the detached window is to use ctrl+O and then navigate to the file, this is rather time consuming.
Is there any kind of setting that I can add to my .Rprofile or anywhere elsewhere so when I opened an .R is opened in the current detached code window and not in the main window or an additional detached window.
I have found only some older discussions on this topic but none seem conclusive, I'm surprised that it is not easier to open code files directly in a separate window, do most users work on a single window?
