Accessing a Google Cloud resource (ElasticSearch) from shinyapps.io R app

Hello,
has anyone here tried to access a Google Compute Engine hosted ElasticSearch from a shinyapps.io shiny app?
I haven't figured a way to make it work. Probably punching above my back-end skills here...
