Posit AI looks great, but you guys really need to allow people to bring their own API keys and configure Posit Assistant to use existing LLM APIs, instead of requiring dedicated subscription.
Even if I wanted to pay for another subscription (which is already a hard sell in addition to Claude), I can't use Posit subscription for professional work, as for security/privacy reasons I can only work with corporate LLM APIs.
Hello and thanks for the feedback. Your correct that currently these tools require a Posit AI subscription for a few reasons outlined here: Frequently asked questions – Posit AI
For professional work, as described in that link, we're working now on bringing a BYOK solution to Posit Workbench so that teams can use corporate-approved LLMs directly.
Out of curiosity, which Claude plan are you on for personal projects?
Hello, thanks for your feedback Alex.
Posit Workbench roadmap is nice, but that doesn’t address the core issue that IMHO ability to customize LLM API should be standard functionality in all forms of product. Not every organization uses Posit Workbench (for example mine doesn’t), so not really solving the issue for users like me.
To clarify, I’m not even saying that the Posit AI extension necessarily needs to be for free (although that would be ideal), I’m saying that without the flexibility to choose LLM provider it is basically unusable for me, and I suspect I’m not alone. Thanks for considering it!
