how to decrement the values in the same row in sequence, e.g. 9, 8, 7, 6, 5. 6→5-6=-1, 7→-1-7=-8. I know how to do it in R. But how to do it in Excel.

equal sign, address of cell which is input, then an operation on it
= A1 - 1
will give you a value one less than whatever number value A1 contains
