RStudio 2025.09.0+387 is now available (you're using 2024.09.1+394)

Hi
when I open R studio recently downloaded keeps saying
RStudio 2025.09.0+387 is now available (you're using 2024.09.1+394)
what I believe is an error as the version announced is older than the one just installed.
This version I have recently downloaded 2024.09.1+394 keeps aborting.
I had also installed new version of R 4.5.1.

Seems installing older version of R 4.2.3 resolved the problème and I can now run 2024.09.1+394. But it keeps saying :
RStudio 2025.09.0+387 is now available (you're using 2024.09.1+394)

Let me know if this is a bug or if I should do this differently.
Thank you !
Best
Carmen

Those are releases from different years, 2024 vs 2025.

yes you are right, sorry for the mistake !
But having MacOS 12 installed (and cannot install later car MacBook too old) I believe I have to stick to version 2024.09.1+394, right ? And this version won't work with R4.5.1 as I have seen in another posit, right ? So I am stuck to R4.2.3 and R2024.09.1+394 from now on ?

I guess it depends if you are after the latest supported RStudio version or latest supported R version. For the latter you might consider Positron as an IDE - https://positron.posit.co/

That is correct. Unfortunately RStudio's "check for updates" is not aware of this limitation and will continue to notify you when there are new versions available.
